How was Announcer's Day born and why is it commemorated

On July 3 of each year, the Day of the Announcer is celebrated throughout Argentina ; a special date that aims to celebrate, recognize and honor all the people and professionals who are dedicated to this profession and who with their voice entertain, inform, amuse and keep the whole country connected.

Next we will tell you how it was born and why Announcer's Day is celebrated in Argentina.

Announcer's Day History

The Day of the Announcer has its origin in an event that occurred on July 3, 1943 in which 21 professionals met in the editorial office of the Antena Magazine, which operated on Avenida Corrientes 830.

On that day and after a long debate, this group of professionals decided to found the Argentine Society of Broadcasters (SAL) to create an association that would bring it together. This date led to the Announcer's Day being celebrated every year in memory of this event.

However, the date as such was officially established in 1950, from a national Congress of Broadcasters in which they decided to set this commemorative date.

In that first founding meeting, which lasted until 4:15 in the morning, the provisional Board of Directors was appointed, which had Pedro Olmo as president and Roberto Galán as secretary. To meet the first expenses of the newly created Argentine Society of Broadcasters, each member put 1 peso out of their own pocket.
