Why is the Broadcasting Day celebrated on August 27

Radio Broadcasting Day is a special date on the Argentine calendar that takes place on August 27 of each year. This date aims to remember a historical event for the country that happened on this day. Do you want to know the history? Read on and find out.

How was the Broadcasting Day born in Argentina?

The origin of the Broadcasting Day dates back to the year 1920 ; date on which the Argentine Radio Society , through the mouth of Enrique Telémaco Susini, made from the city of Buenos Aires, the first radio broadcast made in Argentine territory. This was with the broadcast of Richard Wagner's Parfisal, which was made from the Coliseum Theater.

This transmission is considered, by hundreds, as the first radio broadcast programmed in the history of Argentina . Until then, all previous broadcasts were experimental in nature.

The authors of this historical and artistic feat were Enrique Susini, Miguel Mijica, César Garrido and Luis Romero Carranza; doctor and students, respectively. All of them were radio experimenters who were fascinated and excited by the latest discoveries and inventions of that time about the airwaves.

In this way, with a small microphone, a low-power transmitter and the antennas that were on the roofs of the Coliseo Theater in the City of Buenos Aires, they proposed to broadcast the work Parfisal by Richard Wargner through the radio. .

Certainly, they fulfilled their objective and thanks to this, the first station in the country was launched, which also marked the starting point for broadcasting throughout the world. So, for that reason, Broadcasting Day is commemorated across the country; an occasion to celebrate and honor all radio workers in the country.
