Why did the May Revolution happen?
On May 25, with the support of the people and the Patrician Regiment, Viceroy Cisneros resigned in Buenos Aires and the First Governing Board was established, which was chaired by Cornelio Saavedra along with Mariano Moreno and Juan José Paso as secretaries.
As a consequence of the May Revolution ; which is a series of events that lasted for a week and culminated on May 25, 1810 , when a crowd gathered in the Plaza Mayor, today known as Plaza de Mayo to demand the resignation of the viceroy and the formation of a governing board.
