Origin of the Agricultural Education Day

The Day of Agricultural Education is celebrated on August 6 because a day like this but in the year 1883, the foundation and creation of the Veterinary Agronomic Institute in the Province of Buenos Aires took place. This event marked the beginning of higher education throughout Argentina in agricultural matters.

This institute occupied the property where the old Santa Catalina ranch, property of the Robertson brothers, was located, which was located in the current district of Lomas de Zamora. Its main objective was "to apply the discoveries of science to the various branches of animal and plant production, to train experts and observers capable of improving the procedures of soil exploitation."

Currently, there are several institutions that provide titles and certifications of Professional Technical Education in the sector such as Horticultural Operators, Fruit Producers, Nurseries, Assistants and Dairy Production Operators, Poultry Farmer and Beekeeper, among others.
