Why is Cousins Day celebrated in Argentina

Every year, on June 9 , the Day of the Cousins is celebrated in Argentina; a special date dedicated to celebrating those blood ties between you and the children of your mother's or father's brother / sister. People with whom you are likely to have a very close relationship. It may also be that you have seen them very from time to time and with the passage of time they have become distant people for you. It's sad, but that's the way it happens and yet they are still our cousins.

And it is that, although the same parents are not shared, with them the grandparents are shared, which are the foundations of our existence. Various aspects such as roots, identity and culture are shared with cousins. That is why there is Cousin Day , a date to commemorate and celebrate this relationship.

How was Cousin Day born?

The origin of the Day of the Cousins dates back to the times of ancient Rome where San Feliciano and San Primo were born and lived. They were two brothers who were victims of Diocletian's persecution.

They were accused of being Christians before the emperors Diocletian and Maximian. For this reason, they were taken prisoner and imprisoned until, finally, they were beheaded on June 9 , 297 or 303 of our era, although the date is still unconfirmed.

San Feliciano and San Primo seem to be the first martyrs to be buried within the walls of Rome. Cousins Day is celebrated precisely because of the name of the second Saint, Primo.
