Origin of Labor Lawyer's Day
Labor Lawyer's Day is celebrated on July 7 in Argentina in tribute and memory of the lawyers kidnapped during “The night of the ties” . And of all the lawyers who, for having fought for Democracy and the country suffered the same fate.
During this date, the lawyer Norberto Centeno is remembered who disappeared on July 6, 1977 in Mar de Plata when he was returning from his study. Four days later he was found dead. He was the lawyer for the CGT.
The following day, July 7 , there was the illegal arrest, disappearance and murder of other legal professionals who defended the workers. Among them were Salvador Manuel Arestín, Raúl Hugo Alaiz, Camilo Ricci, Carlos Bozzi and Tomás Fresneda.
Thus, the Labor Lawyer's Day was instituted by the Argentine Federation of Bar Associations and the Labor Lawyers Association. The date was officially instituted through Law No. 27,115 on December 14, 2014.
