Every August 3, the Sports Fisherman's Day is celebrated in Argentina ; a special date to honor all the people who like to practice and practice fishing for sporting and recreational purposes. Find out below how this day was born and why it is celebrated.
Origin of the Sports Fisherman's Day
The Sports Fisherman's Day is born in commemoration and memory of the founding of the first sport fishing club in the country, called “Club de Pescadores de Buenos Aires”, which was created on August 3, 1903.
Sport fishing is that activity whose purpose is recreation and leisure. Like all sports, it requires mastery of techniques to perform it, as well as a specially designed equipment for it.
Its main characteristic is that fishermen do not seek the massive capture of fish but dedicate their effort to obtain a single organism. The objective of the sport fisherman is to get the best specimen, with the largest dimensions and weight, in order to win the competition. However, it also aims to have fun and get in touch with nature to free itself from the pressures of today's hectic life in big cities.
