Why is the Nutritionist's Day celebrated

Every August 11 , the Nutritionist Day is celebrated throughout Argentina , and the rest of Latin America; a special date that seeks to highlight the work of all these nutrition professionals who with their knowledge help people to have healthier eating habits, which allows, among other things, to strengthen the immune system, contract fewer diseases and enjoy better health and quality of life.

Origin of Nutritionist Day

The Nutritionist's Day was born in 1974, the date since it is celebrated in commemoration of the birth of Dr. Pedro Escudero , an Argentine doctor and pioneer of nutrition in the country. During the 30s, Escudero, created the specialty in Argentina, when founding the Municipal Institute of Nutrition; the current School of Nutrition of the University of Buenos Aires, and also the School of Dietitians.

The impact was so great that its guidelines and documents served for the development and foundation of similar institutes throughout Latin America.
